Amend the amendment by striking out the substitute title and replacing it with the following:
‘Resolve, To Support the Establishment of a Labor Center at the University of Southern Maine and To Require the Board of Trustees of the University of Maine System To Reexamine the Mission of the University of Maine System’
Amend the amendment in section 1 in the last line (page 1, line 25 in amendment) by striking out the following: "System." and inserting the following: 'System; and be it further'
Amend the amendment by inserting after section 1 the following:
‘Sec. 2. Reexamination of mission of University of Maine System. Resolved: That the Board of Trustees of the University of Maine System shall reexamine the mission of the University of Maine System in light of the Charter of the University of Maine System and the university's status as a land-grant institution. The examination conducted by the board of trustees pursuant to this section must include, but is not limited to, a review of the provisions governing the duties of the board of trustees in the Charter of the University of Maine System in Section 4-B, subsection 1.’
SUMMARY
This amendment directs the Board of Trustees of the University of Maine System to reexamine the mission of the University of Maine System in light of the Charter of the University of Maine System and the university's status as a land-grant institution. The examination conducted by the board of trustees must include, but is not limited to, a review of the provisions governing the duties of the board of trustees in the Charter of the University of Maine System in Section 4-B, subsection 1.
