This
bill delays the start of the Unused Pharmaceutical Disposal Program by one
year. This bill also expands the
types of funds that can be collected by the Unused Pharmaceutical Disposal
Program Fund to include public non-General Fund sources. Currently, the fund is not projected to
receive any significant revenue and absent resources from that source, the
program would have incurred approximately $220,000 in General Fund costs
during fiscal year 2005-06. However,
no General Fund resources have been appropriated to implement the
program. The expansion of funding
sources for the dedicated fund is not likely to significantly offset the
anticipated costs of the program for fiscal year 2006-07 which is estimated
to be approximately $225,000. Absent
any significant resources to be collected by the fund, the Department of
Public Safety will require an additional General Fund appropriation of
approximately $225,000 in fiscal year 2006-07 to implement the program. |
