It is
not known how many municipalities or quasi-municipal corporations would elect
not to have the Department of Audit audit their accounting or auditing
systems. To the extent that the
Department of Audit may conduct fewer audits there may be some savings. Currently there is only one auditor
position assigned to this activity and any available time freed up by fewer
audits of municipalities would allow more time spent on other high risk
audits. Savings would not be
significant. |
