The
University of Maine System and the Maine Community College System will
require additional General Fund appropriations beginning in fiscal year
2005-06 for the legal and administrative costs associated with creating an
academic bill of rights. The actual
cost can not be determined at this time.
However, the University of Maine estimates the legal costs to be a
much as $50,000 for each complaint filed and the administrative costs to be
approximately $75,000 per year for the salary and benefits for one position
to monitor campus compliance. The
Maine Community College System estimates the legal and administrative costs
to the System to be approximately $30,000 per year. |
