Fiscal Detail and Notes
The repeal of the current registration fee for street rods will result in the loss of $7,500 and $9,000 in fiscal years 2005-06 and 2006-07, respectively, in Highway Fund revenues collected by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles within the Department of the Secretary of State.  This bill authorizes the Secretary of State to establish a one-time registration fee for street rods; the amount of revenues that will be collected from this new fee can not be  determined at the present time.  The net effect on Highway Fund revenues from these changes in street rod registration fees can not be determined until the new fee has been established by the Secretary of State.
In addition, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles will require a one-time Highway Fund allocation of $3,250 in fiscal year 2005-06 for the costs of modifying the bureau's computer system.
