Requiring
electricity consumed in state owned buildings be supplied by renewable
resources no later than January 1, 2008 will result in annual additional
costs to the state. The Department of
Administrative and Financial Services estimates that the additional
incremental cost of renewable energy could be as high as $979,038 annually
based on the usage of approximately 139,862,690 kwh. The additional costs associated with the
State Planning Office developing a plan to implement electricity purchases
for state buildings and reporting to the Utilities and Energy Committee and
the State and Local Government Committee can be absorbed utilizing existing
budgeted resources. |
