	The Secretary of State's budget includes sufficient funds to accommodate one ballot of average length for the general election in November. If the number or size of the referendum questions increases the ballot length, an additional appropriation of $8,000 or more may be required.  A special election would require an additional appropriation of $121,392.
Fiscal Detail and Notes
	This bill includes General Fund appropriations of $100,000 in fiscal years 2005-06 and 2006-07 to the Department of Marine Resources for the shared costs of a demersal finfish ecologist to be employed by the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.  If it is the intent that funding continue beyond the 2006-2007 biennium, the bill should be amended to make that clear.
