Part 1 of
the Governor's Current Services Budget for the 2006-2007 biennium proposes to
appropriate $824,028,099 and $892,317,693 in fiscal years 2005-06 and
2006-07, respectively, for K-12 public education. This legislation also appropriates an additional $6,962,382 in
fiscal year 2005-06 and $230,735 in fiscal year 2006-07 for General Purpose
Aid for Local Schools. Although this
amendment does not propose to change the General Fund appropriations provided
for funding K-12 public education in fiscal years 2005-06 and 2006-07, the
actual General Fund appropriations required can not be determined at this
time and will depend on the recommended changes to the essential programs and
services model made by the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural
Affairs and approved by the Legislature. |

Committee on Education and Cultural Services and approved by the Legislature. |
