Resolve, Directing the Department of Health and Human Services To Amend Its Rules To Ensure Efficiencies in the Billing and Delivery of Outpatient Clinical Services
Sec. 1. Reimbursement of service providers in independent practice; amend rules. Resolved: That the Department of Health and Human Services shall amend its rules governing reimbursement under MaineCare to allow for reimbursement to outpatient clinical service providers who practice independently. For purposes of this section, "outpatient clinical service providers" includes, but is not limited to, licensed clinical social workers and licensed clinical professional counselors.
SUMMARY
Under rules adopted by the Department of Health and Human Services, certain providers of outpatient clinical services may be reimbursed for services provided to MaineCare members only if the service providers are affiliated with an agency. This resolve directs the department to amend its rules governing reimbursement under MaineCare to allow for reimbursement to providers of outpatient clinical services who practice independently.
