An Act To Improve Water Monitoring at Clam Flats
Emergency preamble. Whereas, acts of the Legislature do not become effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as emergencies; and
Whereas, the public health and welfare may be adversely affected by undetected episodes of red tide; and
Whereas, water monitoring efforts in Washington County need to be improved in anticipation of the spring clamming season; and
Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, therefore,
Sec. 1. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Establishes one additional Marine Resource Scientist I position to be used for water monitoring purposes in Washington County.
