Resolve, To Ensure the Coordination and Effectiveness in the Provision of Outpatient and Medication Management Services under Maine's Noncategorical Waiver
Sec. 1. Development of process. Resolved: That the Department of Health and Human Services shall develop a process for tracking the number of mental health treatment sessions provided to noncategorical waiver beneficiaries, for purposes of appropriate clinical planning. In developing this process, the department shall:
1. Establish prior authorization processes to ensure that a beneficiary’s remaining service availability is not exhausted within any given calendar year;
2. Create criteria for necessary clinical justification for exceeding the calendar year limit of outpatient and medication management services; and
3. Clarify that mental health assessment services are not included within the calendar year service limit.
