Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §1878 is enacted to read:

 
§1878.__Environmentally friendly products

 
No later than July 1, 2010, the Department of Administrative
and Financial Services shall ensure that only environmentally
friendly and nontoxic cleaning products are used to clean all
state-owned and state-leased properties.__The Department of
Administrative and Financial Services may adopt routine technical
rules pursuant to chapter 375, subchapter 2-A to carry out the
purposes of this section.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill requires the Department of Administrative and
Financial Services to adopt rules to provide for the use no later
than July 1, 2010 of only environmentally friendly and nontoxic
cleaning products to clean all state-owned and state-leased
properties.
