Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10053, sub-§8, as enacted by PL 2003, c. 414, Pt. A, §2 and affected by c. 614, §9, is amended to read:

8. Animal damage control. The coordination of animal damage control functions throughout the State, including supplemental assistance for the control of coyotes and other nuisance wildlife that exceeds normal funding and staffing levels within the department; and

Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §10108, sub-§11, as enacted by PL 2003, c. 655, Pt. B, §30 and affected by §422, is repealed.

SUMMARY

This bill ends the use of wire neck snares by repealing the coyote control program and by removing the responsibility the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Bureau of Resource Management has in assisting in the control of coyotes as part of the bureau's animal damage control functions.
