Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §7061, sub-§5, as enacted by PL 1987, c. 541, is amended to read:

5. Reclassification requests. The bureau shall act as expeditiously as possible on determine all job reclassification requests which occur while this section is in effect or requests for range changes within 90 days of submission of the request by an employee or group of employees to the appropriate commissioner or director. Nothing in this section may be construed to authorize the bureau to defer from acting expeditiously on job reclassification requests while the issue of job classifications is being addressed pursuant to this section.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Director of Human Resources within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services to ensure that a request for a range change or job reclassification is determined within 90 days of submission of the application by an employee or group of employees to the appropriate commissioner or agency head.
