| | | Sec. 1. 21-A MRSA §1014, sub-§3-B is enacted to read: |

| | | 3-B.__Newspapers.__A newspaper may not publish a communication | | described in subsection 1 or 2 without including the disclosure | | required by this section.__For purposes of this subsection, | | "newspaper" includes any printed material intended for general | | circulation or to be read by the general public. |

| | | Sec. 2. 21-A MRSA §1055, as amended by PL 2003, c. 615, §2, is | | further amended by adding after the 2nd paragraph a new paragraph | | to read: |

| | | A newspaper may not publish a communication described in this | | section without including the disclosure required by this | | section.__For purposes of this paragraph, "newspaper" includes | | any printed material intended for general circulation or to be | | read by the general public. |

| | | This bill makes newspapers responsible for including the | | required disclosures when publishing political communications in | | the newspapers. |
