| | Emergency preamble. Whereas, acts of the Legislature do not become | effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as | emergencies; and |

| | Whereas, many municipalities post weight restrictions on roads | during the spring months; and |
|
| | Whereas, spring is an important season for agricultural | operations during which many supplies are delivered for the | upcoming growing season; and |
|
| | Whereas, many agricultural operations will be disadvantaged this | spring if their suppliers are not exempted from municipal road | postings; and |
|
| | Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create | an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and | require the following legislation as immediately necessary for | the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, | therefore, |

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2395, sub-§9 is enacted to read: |
|
| | 9.__Agricultural products.__A vehicle delivering supplies or | products necessary for an agricultural operation is exempt from | the provisions of this section. |
|
| | Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, | this Act takes effect when approved. |
|
| | This bill exempts vehicles delivering supplies or products | necessary for an agricultural operation from restrictions placed | on roads concerning weight, speed, operation and equipment during | certain periods of the year. |
