| | | Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §3406, first ¶, as enacted by PL 1987, c. 737, Pt. A, | | §2 and Pt. C, §106 and amended by PL 1989, c. 6; c. 9, §2; and c. | | 104, Pt. C, §§8 and 10, is further amended to read: |

| | | The municipal officers may | service charges from time to time | | connected with a municipal sewer or disposal system for the use | of the system. These service charges shall | | fund contributions. The service charges required under this | | paragraph must cover the expenses of the municipal sewer or | | disposal system.__A municipality may not pay for system expenses | | from other municipal funds. |

| | | Sec. 2. Effective date. This Act takes effect January 1, 2007. |

| | | This bill requires municipalities after January 1, 2007 to pay | | for a municipal sewer or disposal system through user fees rather | | than with other municipal funds. |
