Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2011, sub-§5 is enacted to read:

5.__Government property.__Nothing in this section limits the power or authority of any state agency, department, political subdivision, county, municipality, quasi-municipal corporation or special purpose district to regulate the possession of firearms on public property.

SUMMARY

This bill explicitly authorizes all public entities, including those with jurisdiction over civic centers, hospitals, universities, libraries, schools and municipal offices, to regulate the possession of firearms on public property under those entities' jurisdictions.
