Increasing
the number of qualifying contributions a gubernatorial candidate must receive
may reduce the number of candidates receiving clean election funding. Changing the amount distributed to each
gubernatorial candidate to the average spending of those who received more
than 5% of the vote previously instead of to the average of all candidates
may increase the amount distributed to each candidate. The net effect on the Maine Clean
Elections Fund can not be determined at this time. |
