Fiscal Detail and Notes
Prohibiting the sale of non-fire-safe cigarettes will reduce General Fund revenue from cigarette taxes by a significant amount beginning in fiscal year 2004-05.  The exact amount can not be estimated at this time.
The Department of Public Safety will require additional annual Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of $500 beginning in fiscal year 2004-05 to reflect the establishment of the Cigarette Fire Safety Fund.  The amounts of dedicated revenue that will be collected for that fund can not be determined at this time.
The Department of Public Safety can absorb the costs of adopting certain rules within existing budgeted resources.
