The
Governor's proposed Current Services budget for the 2004-2005 biennium
deappropriates all funding for the Maine Science and Technology Foundation
and transfers the duties and responsibilities to the Department of Economic
and Community Development. If
approved, the Governor's proposed budget, would appropriate $491,740 in
fiscal year 2003-04 and $490,347 in fiscal year 2004-05 to the Department of
Economic and Community Development for one Program Manager position and All
Other to assume the duties of the Maine Science and Technology
Foundation. It is not clear whether a
portion of these funds will be available for the Maine Space Grant
Consortium. If the Governor's
proposed budget is approved and no funding is available for the Maine Space
Grant Consortium from the appropriations provided to the Department of
Economic and Community Development, the Department would require a General
Fund appropriation of $100,000 in fiscal year 2003-04 and 2004-05 for this
measure. |
