2.__Exercise of rights or protections.__Exercised in any
way, on the worker's own behalf or on behalf of others, any
right or protection afforded by this subchapter;

 
3.__Discussions.__Discussed any matter that is a subject of
or is related in any way to this subchapter, or any other
lawful matter, with any other person, including, but not
limited to, that forestry worker's employer or the employer's
agent or employee; or

 
4. Complaints.__Has made, filed, instituted, caused to be
instituted or participated in any way in any lawful complaint,
lawsuit or other proceeding of any kind.

 
§647.__Waiver of rights prohibited

 
Any agreement by a forestry worker purporting to waive or
modify any of the worker's rights under this subchapter is
void as contrary to public policy.

 
§648.__Violations;__enforcement

 
Actions to enforce this subchapter may be brought in
accordance with this section.

 
1.__Joint and several liability.__If more than one person or
entity is an employer of the same forestry worker or group of
workers, each such person or entity is jointly and severally
liable for all violations of this subchapter.

 
2.__Department inspection and enforcement.__The Department
of Labor is authorized to inspect the vehicles used to
transport forestry workers pursuant to section 643 and the
housing provided to forestry workers pursuant to section 644,
to monitor compliance with other provisions of this subchapter
and any regulations under this subchapter, to report any
suspected violation of federal safety or health standards to
the agency responsible for enforcing those standards, to
undertake enforcement action pursuant to subsection 3 with
regard to violations of this subchapter or any rules adopted
pursuant to this subchapter and to report to the Attorney
General violations of this subchapter or any rules adopted
pursuant to this subchapter.

 
3.__Civil violation.__An employer or other person who
violates this subchapter or any of the rules adopted under
this subchapter commits a civil violation for which a fine of
not less than $200 nor more than $2,500 for each violation may
be adjudged.__If it is determined that the circumstances
