Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 24 MRSA §2506, as amended by PL 1997, c. 697, §5, is
further amended by adding at the end a new paragraph to read:

 
This section does not apply to registered nurses, except
that, in the case of registered nurses, the State Board of
Nursing shall adopt rules, which are routine technical rules
as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A, for
mandatory reporting of registered nurses.__The State Board of
Nursing shall periodically analyze these rules and revise them
to reflect input from professional associations such as
national nurses associations and national associations of
nurse executives.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill amends the Maine Health Security Act as it relates
to the reporting of registered nurses by health care providers
and health care entities to the State Board of Nursing to
provide that the State Board of Nursing shall adopt rules for
mandatory reporting of registered nurses.
