Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §1904, sub-§5, ¶G is enacted to read:

G.__A replacement bulb or other lighting device intended to replace a headlight must conform with and be installed according to the federal motor vehicle safety standards established in 49 Code of Federal Regulations, 571.108 (2002) for original-equipment headlights.__The use of high-intensity discharge bulbs is permitted, but only to the extent that the bulbs are installed in conformity with this paragraph.__The operator of a vehicle in noncompliance with this paragraph is considered in violation of the inspection standards set forth in section 1756.
