Sec. 1. 37-B MRSA §509 is enacted to read:

§509.__Roster of Maine members of the United States Armed Forces

presumed lost or deceased

The bureau shall maintain and actively attempt to update a roster of all Maine members of the United States Armed Forces who are presumed lost or deceased during their service, regardless of whether the presumed loss or death occurred in operations during a recognized period of war or conflict.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management, Bureau of Maine Veterans' Services to maintain and actively update a roster of all Maine members of the United States Armed Forces who are presumed lost or deceased during their service, regardless of whether the presumed loss or death occurred in operations during a recognized period of war or conflict.
