Sec. 1. Windfall elimination provision study. Resolved: That the Maine State
Retirement System shall study the so-called windfall
elimination provision under the federal social security
program whereby social security benefits may be lowered for
retirees receiving benefits under the Maine State Retirement
System. The Maine State Retirement System shall determine
whether the windfall elimination has an adverse impact on
retirees under the Maine State Retirement System and whether
there are justifications that may offset that impact; and be
it further

 
Sec. 2. Recommendations for Maine Congressional Delegation. Resolved: That the
Maine State Retirement System shall develop and present to the
Joint Standing Committee on Labor in the Second Regular
Session of the 121st Legislature recommendations to be made to
the Maine Congressional Delegation concerning changes to the
windfall elimination provision.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve directs the Maine State Retirement System to
study the windfall elimination provision under the federal
social security program and to suggest recommendations for the
Maine Congressional Delegation to change that provision.
