Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §3036
is enacted to read:
§3036.__Exposure to body fluids
If a public safety or health care employee experiences an
occupational exposure to a body fluid of a deceased person,
the Chief Medical Examiner shall ensure that the deceased
person is tested for blood-borne pathogens as defined in
section 831, subsection 2.
SUMMARY
This bill requires the Chief Medical Examiner to test the
body fluids of a deceased person for blood-borne pathogens if
a public safety or health care worker experiences an
occupational exposure to the deceased person's body fluids.
