Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §7854, sub-§9, as enacted by PL 1983, c. 297, §§1 and 3, is amended to read:

9. Reciprocity. Reciprocity shall must be allowed to nonresidents from all states, provinces, countries or districts which allow the State of New Hampshire and the Province of New Brunswick provided that similar privileges are allotted to residents of this State, and provided that they the nonresidents are covered by a valid registration from that state, or province, country or district.

A. If the ATV is owned by a nonresident but is primarily operated by a Maine resident, it shall must be registered under this section.

B. Nothing in this subsection may be construed to authorize the operation of any ATV described in any manner contrary to this subchapter.

SUMMARY

This bill restricts reciprocity in the registration of all- terrain vehicles to citizens of the State of New Hampshire and the Province of New Brunswick.
