1. Exclude from reimbursement the costs of advertising for hospital services or for physicians who serve on the staff of the hospital;

2. Exclude from reimbursement the costs of physician time that is not spent in direct patient care or other required hospital or patient-related activity;

3. Exclude all reimbursement if the hospital uses economic credentialing to exclude physicians who are not employed by the hospital; and

4. Restrict physician reimbursement to direct care services provided to patients.

SUMMARY

This resolve directs the Department of Human Services to amend the rules for reimbursement under the MaineCare program for the reimbursement of hospitals by November 1, 2003. It designates the rules as routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.
