Sec. 1. 17 MRSA §326, sub-§1-A, ¶B, as enacted by PL 1993, c. 45, §3, is amended to read:

B. Defray the expenses or part of the expenses that further the purpose for which the organization is formed except that proceeds may not be:

(1) Used to purchase alcohol or to defray the cost of activities where alcohol is served; or

(2) Paid directly to organization members except as specifically allowed in this subsection; and

Sec. 2. 17 MRSA §326, sub-§1-A, ¶B-1 is enacted to read:

B-1.__Pay salaries, wages or remuneration to members of an organization that is recognized by the federal Veterans Health Administration for providing transportation services to disabled veterans receiving medical treatment under the supervision of the federal Veterans Health Administration for those members' providing that transportation service; and

SUMMARY

This bill allows an organization recognized by the federal Veterans Health Administration to use beano proceeds to compensate members of that organization who provide transportation services to disabled veterans receiving medical treatment under the supervision of the federal Veterans Health Administration.
