| | | Sec. 1. 26 MRSA §701-A is enacted to read: |

| | | §701-A.__Application of subchapter |
|
| | | Except as otherwise specifically provided, this subchapter | | applies to employment by all private and public employers, | | including the State and its political subdivisions. |

| | | This bill provides that child labor laws apply to public | | employers as well as private employers. Child labor laws | | require work permits for minors, limit the hours that minors | | may work and prohibit them from working in certain hazardous | | workplaces. |
|
|
