Sec. 1. 35-A MRSA §7104-B, as amended by PL 2001, c. 522, §§1 and 2, is repealed.

SUMMARY

This bill repeals the section of law that allows telecommunications carriers to assess consumers a 0.5% fee on telecommunications services. The funds accumulated from the tax are used to provide discounted telecommunications services, internet access, internal connections, computers and training to qualified libraries and schools; since this bill repeals the sole source of funding, this bill repeals the entire section regulating the use of the fund.
