viii.H.__Navy or Marine Corps Medal;

 
ix.I.__Airman's Medal;

 
x.J.__Coast Guard Medal;

 
xi.K.__Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal;

 
xii.L.__European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal;

 
xiii.M.__Korean Service Medal;

 
xiv.N.__Vietnam Service Medal;

 
xv.O.__Southwest Asia Service Medal;

 
xvi.P.__Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; and

 
xvii.Q.__Kosovo Service Medal.

 
6.__Special commemorative decals for branches of armed forces.__
The Secretary of State may issue special commemorative decals for
use with special veterans registration plates to any person who
served in the United States Armed Forces and was honorably
discharged when that person's application is accompanied by the
appropriate military certification verifying the applicant's
service.__One set of commemorative decals may be issued for each
set of special veterans registration plates issued under this
section.__One set of 2 commemorative decals

 
must be displayed on the front and back plate.__The fee for a set
of commemorative decals may not exceed $5.

 
Special commemorative decals may be issued to applicants who
served in the:

 
xviii.A.__United States Army;

 
xix.B.__United States Air Force;

 
xx.C.__United States Navy;

 
xxi.D.__United States Marine Corps; or

 
xxii.E.__United States Coast Guard.

 
Sec. 3. Effective date. This Act takes effect November 5, 2001.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill allows 3 sets of special veterans registration
plates to be issued to a qualified veteran. The bill establishes
a maximum registered gross vehicle weight of 9,000 pounds for a
vehicle to qualify for special veterans plates. The bill repeals
the Korean War special commemorative decal and allows the
issuance of 22 veteran decals to be used in connection with the
special veterans registration plate. The effective date of this
bill is November 5, 2001 to commemorate Veterans Day.
