Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §5116 is enacted to read:

 
§5116.__Silver Star recipients exempt

 
Recipients of the Silver Star for service in the Armed Forces
of the United States are exempt from taxation under this chapter.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill provides a state income tax exemption for recipients
of the Silver Star awarded for service in the Armed Forces of the
United States.
