Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2304, sub-§5 is enacted to read:

 
5.__Passenger safety seat belts for school buses.__Every new
school bus, as defined in this subchapter, purchased for use in
this State after January 1, 2002 must be equipped with safety
seat belts for use by all passengers.

 
SUMMARY

 
New school buses purchased after January 1, 2002 must be
equipped with safety seat belts for use by all passengers.
