| | Emergency preamble. Whereas, Acts of the Legislature do not become | effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as | emergencies; and |

| | Whereas, immediate enhancement of the current Moosehead Trail | signs is necessary for tourists traveling alternate routes in | Maine; and |
|
| | Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create | an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and | require the following legislation as immediately necessary for | the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, | therefore, |

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |
|
| | Sec. 1. P&SL 1957, c. 67, §1, 2nd ¶ is amended to read: |
|
| | The State Highway Commission Department of Transportation | shall erect and maintain suitable signs designating the | "Moosehead Trail." and shall conduct before Memorial Day of each | year routine maintenance on the signs. |

| | Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, | this Act takes effect when approved. |
|
| | This bill requires that the Department of Transportation | conduct routine maintenance on signs designating the Moosehead | Trail before Memorial Day of each year. The Moosehead Trail | consists of the highway beginning in Belfast at the junction of | Route U.S. 1 and Route 3, Route 7 to Newport and Dexter, Route 23 | to Sangerville to the junction of Route 15 in Guilford, Route 15 | to Greenville and Jackman and ending at the junction of Route 15 | and U.S. 201. |
