| | | A.__Develop and continually reevaluate mechanisms to address | | women's health issues, including, but not limited to, | | osteoporosis, arthritis, domestic violence, exposure to | | diethylstilbestrol, eating disorders and elder women's | | health; |

| | | B.__Provide technical assistance to other public or private | | programs to develop appropriate gender-specific | | intervention; |

| | | C.__Analyze health data and disseminate reports; |
|
| | | D.__Support interagency work groups to maximize efficient | | use of state resources; |

| | | E.__Review proposed legislation; |
|
| | | F.__Provide technical assistance to the Legislature, the | | Governor and state agencies; |
|
| | | G.__Develop health policy analysis documents; |
|
| | | H.__Monitor federal and other funding sources and apply for | | funds to meet specific objectives; |
|
| | | I.__Support regular women's health conferences; |
|
| | | J.__Develop and disseminate a periodic newsletter or other | | communication to key stakeholders to ensure access to | | women's health information; |
|
| | | K.__Respond to public requests for information on women's | | health issues; and |
|
| | | L.__Identify and support needs of special populations, which | | may include minorities, lesbians or incarcerated or disabled | | women. |

| | | Sec. 2. Report. The Department of Human Services and the | | Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance | | Abuse Services shall submit a joint report to the First Regular | | Session of the 120th Legislature by January 6, 2001 on the | | progress toward implementation of the Office of Women's Health. | | The report must include any proposed legislation necessary to | | fully implement or enhance the effectiveness of the Office of | | Women's Health, including a proposal for staffing the office. |
