Rep. Jane Pringle is serving her second non-consecutive term in the Maine House, having previously served from 2012-2014.

Rep. Pringle grew up in both New York and Ohio but she has long family roots in Maine dating back to the 1600s. She also summered in Maine all her life before moving with her family in 1975.

She graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio in 1967 with a B.A. in History and a M.D from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio with her M.D. in 1971 where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

Additionally, she completed an internship in internal medicine at University Hospitals in Cleveland. She also completed her medical residency and fellowship at the Royal Victoria Hospital at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec Canada.

She practiced general internal medicine in both private practice in Maine from 1983-1993, and in hospital based practice in various Maine Medical Center Clinics from 1975 -1993 and 1999-2012. She served as Chief Medical Director of Outpatient Clinics from 1999-2011. During her tenure as clinic director she oversaw the implementation of an electronic medical record system, expansion of clinic services and implementation of various Quality Improvement Programs. She also served as the Medical Director of the Care Partners Program of Greater Portland which provided health care to patients without health insurance.

In 2011 Dr. Pringle received the Phoebe Conroy King Access to Healthcare award from the Maine Public Health Association recognizing her work to improve access to healthcare for the many residents of Maine who have no health insurance.

Rep. Pringle is married to James O. Pringle M.D. and lives on a farm in Windham, Maine. They have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.
