Rep. Dan Hobbs is serving his second non-consecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives. He is a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee.

Rep. Hobbs has extensive experience in the transportation sector. He retired from a major U.S. airline and later worked for companies focused on ferry and bus services. He previously served on the Wells Board of Selectmen.

As a state lawmaker, Rep. Hobbs’ priorities include protecting Maine’s coastline – particularly the Wells marsh and working harbor, which are the lifeblood of the local economy – and advocating for local school funding.

A lifelong Mainer, Rep. Hobbs is a graduate of Deering High School in Portland and Nasson College in Springvale.

Rep. Hobbs is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Environment and Natural Resources.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: Air and water quality; natural resource protection; site location of development laws, shoreland zoning, subdivisions and growth management; management and disposal of solid, hazardous, biomedical and special wastes; returnable containers; hydropower and dams; waste-to-energy facilities; mining; wind energy development; and general environmental policy, including oversight of the Department of Environmental Protection.
