Representative Nicole Grohoski
  Representing: Ellsworth and Trenton
District #132

Rep. Nicole Grohoski is serving her second term in the Maine House.

Grohoski is a geographic information system (GIS) specialist and cartographer and works for a small, Maine-based mapping company. She grew up in Ellsworth and graduated from Middlebury College, where she studied environmental studies and chemistry with a minor in math.

She has served as a volunteer firefighter and now volunteers with Green Ellsworth, the Heart of Ellsworth, and Meals on Wheels and is a board member for the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, which she was the first woman to thru-paddle in 2006.

In her first term, Grohoski served as a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology, where she has been a passionate advocate for affordable and reliable electricity, universal broadband, and internet privacy and against the CMP Corridor. Her other policy priorities include more affordable health care, lower property taxes, and environmental protection.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: Energy policy, including energy resources, efficiency and conservation; insulation; electric industry, including supply, transmission and distribution; natural gas industry; telecommunications industry, including mobile, telephone, Internet, broadband and cable television services; E-9-1-1; water and sewer utilities, including district charters; Public Utilities Commission; Office of the Public Advocate; Governor’s Office of Independence and Security; and Efficiency Maine Trust.
