Rep. Jim Dill is serving his third non-consecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives, having previously served in the House from 2010 to 2014. He is currently a member of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee and the Marine Resources Committee.

Rep. Dill is rejoining the House after serving four terms in the Maine Senate. In his third and fourth terms, he served as Senate chair of both the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee and the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee.

A Maine native, Rep. Dill lives in Old Town and works for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension as the pest management specialist and cooperating professor in the School of Biological Sciences. He is an active member of his community, serving as the chairman of the Old Town/RSU 34 School Board for the past 24 years. He has also served on the board of the United Technologies Center, the CTE high school in Bangor, for the past 25 years, and as its chairman for the past 10 years. Additionally, he is a member of the Orono-Old Town Kiwanis.

Rep. Dill is a graduate of the University of Maine and holds a Ph.D. in entomology from Purdue University.

Committee

Rep. Dill is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: Department of Fisheries and Wildlife; inland fisheries and wildlife research and management; hunting; fishing; trapping; hunter safety; fish hatcheries; game wardens; guides; taxidermist licensing; ATVs; snowmobiles; watercraft registration and boater safety; and whitewater rafting.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: Department of Marine Resources; Marine Patrol; commercial and recreational marine fisheries management, licensing and enforcement; marine science and research; shellfish sanitation and management; and aquaculture.
