In Memory of: (5-10) Joel Barnes, of Shapleigh, a captain with the Berwick Fire Department, who lost his life while battling a four-alarm apartment fire in Berwick and saving the life of another firefighter. Captain Barnes was a firefighter/paramedic and served in the department as training officer and emergency services coordinator. He had previously served with the Horry County Fire Rescue in South Carolina, South Berwick Rescue, York Ambulance and the Old Orchard Beach Fire Department before joining the Berwick Fire Department in July 2016. He was also an active per diem firefighter in Acton. Captain Barnes will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family, friends and fellow firefighters;
