She served as a Legislative Aide in the Senate Majority Office and was briefly a Special Assistant in the President's Office and in the Senate Majority Office. She continued her service as a Legislative Aide for a number of years and also worked as a Committee Clerk, a Special Assistant and the Senate Board Operator. Ms. Steward served as the Fiscal Administrator of the Department of Audit for a time before she returned to the Legislature, where she worked as a Committee Clerk for various committees from 2013 to 2020 and with the Senate Chamber staff from 2022 to the present. (5-70) David Ernest Sellers, of Woolwich. Mr. Sellers was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving as a sergeant during the Vietnam War era. He had a career with Boston Edison and Maine Yankee, and he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and CHIPS. Mr. Sellers will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family, friends and community;

(5-71) Philip E. McPhail, of Lowell. Mr. McPhail served as a United States Navy corpsman with the 1st Marine Division in the Korean War. During his service, he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star (V). He worked in the accounting office of Great Northern Paper from 1960 to 1970 before creating his own businesses. After trying a number of businesses, he opened a real estate office in his home in 1974. He built that business for 37 years, and it now spans three generations. Outside his work career, Mr. McPhail leaves behind a legacy of service, learning and perseverance. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and served as commander of the American Legion post in Howland. He was also one of the founding members of the Howland Federal Credit Union. Mr. McPhail will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family, friends and community;

(5-72) the Honorable Francis C. Marsano, of Belfast. Mr. Marsano served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve, went on active duty and attained the rank of Captain. He practiced law with Lorrimer K. Eaton and Richard W. Glass in Belfast and remained in practice until 1993. He served as chair of the Maine Bar Association's Committee on Real Estate and Title Standards and on the Board of Governors of the Maine State Bar Association. He was elected president of the Maine State Bar Association in 1988 and received a Life Member Award from the association in 2012. He was also a longtime member of the American Bar Association. He was a member of the National Council of School Board Attorneys and a member of the Executive Committee of the Maine Council of School Board Attorneys. He became a life member of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation in 1997. He became a justice of the Maine Superior Court in 1993 and served until 2001. He was also active on the Court's Advisory Committee on Court Administration and was a member of the original Board of Overseers of the Bar of Maine. As a justice, he served on the original Family Law Advisory Committee. He was elected 3 times to the Maine House of Representatives beginning in 1986. He was also active in his community. He served for more than 20 years on the boards of the Waldo County YMCA, of which he was president, and the Penobscot Marine Museum. He was a founding incorporator of the Waldo County Commission for Social Action. He served on the boards of the Mid Coast Mental Health Association and the Waldo County General Hospital. He was chairman of the Waldo County March of Dimes for several years. Mr. Marsano will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family, friends and community;

(5-73) Mary Elizabeth (Lasselle) Lewis, of Boothbay Harbor. Mrs. Lewis worked for a time for the Secretary of State before dedicating herself to raising her family. Later re-entering the workforce, she worked for the Maine Workers' Compensation Board, where she continued to work until she retired. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Congregational Church and Eastern Star, volunteered at church suppers and created many crafts for donation to church and school Christmas fairs. Mrs. Lewis will be long remembered and sadly missed by her family, friends and community;

(5-74) Donna J. Frost, of Monmouth. Mrs. Frost was a beautician for many years, serving a large clientele in the Monmouth area. She was an active community volunteer and contributor and a member of the East Monmouth Auxiliary and the Monmouth Lions Club.
