Representative Christopher W. Babbidge
Representing: Kennebunk (part)
District #8

Rep. Christopher Babbidge is serving his fifth non-consecutive term in the House of Representatives. He is proud of his varied background serving on the Utilities and Energy Committee and the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources in the 122nd and 123rd, respectively, and on Energy, Utilities, and Technology and the Committee on State and Local Government in the 127th Legislatures. In the 128th and 129th Legislatures, he has served on the Committee on Judiciary. He also serves on the Joint Rules Committee and the Maine Bicentennial Commission.

Babbidge is a graduate of South Portland High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University at Portland-Gorham. For 17 years he was an instructor, and, at one time, director, at the Muskie Summer Scholars Program at Bates College in Lewiston.

Babbidge has advised and coached many school and community clubs and sports. He has been a president of the Maine Council for the Social Studies, teachers’ association president and chief negotiator, and a Kennebunk High School Political Affairs Club organizer and advisor mentoring hundreds of students in leadership activities at various conferences and competitions. He is currently in his 38th year as an advisor for the state YMCA Youth and Government Model State Legislature Program.

Babbidge was an elected member of the Kennebunk Charter Commission and has served on the Kennebunk Comprehensive Plan Committee. He continues to be an active member of the community and serves on the Stratford Place board of directors.

He and his wife, Linda, live in Kennebunk. They have three children, all of whom attended K-12 in Kennebunk schools, and seven grandchildren.
