Fiscal Detail and Notes
This bill includes General Fund appropriations totaling $3,110,889 in fiscal year 2024-25 to the Innovative Teaching and Learning program within the Department of Education. Of this amount, $2,000,000 in nonlapsing funds is appropriated on a one-time basis to support the work of the African American and Wabanaki Studies Advisory Council and to administer and provide grants to school administrative units (SAUs) to expand or implement African American and Wabanaki Studies curricula and $1,000,000 in nonlapsing funds is appropriated on a one-time basis to provide grants to SAUs to expand or implement financial literacy, civics or other Maine Learning Results curricula. Additionally, $110,889 is appropriated on an ongoing basis in fiscal year 2024-25 for one Interdisciplinary Instruction Specialist position to serve as a content specialist in African American and Wabanaki Studies to provide support and technical assistance to SAUs.
