This bill
includes a one-time General Fund appropriation of $175,000 in fiscal year
2024-25 to the University of Maine System for the costs associated with
conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of programs with
the Department of Corrections that prepare residents of correctional
facilities for employment and self-sufficiency upon release from
incarceration. |

Additional costs
to the Departments of Corrections, Labor, Education, Health and Human
Services and the Office of the Attorney General associated with consulting
with the University of Maine System on the evaluation are expected to be
minor and can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources. |
