Amend the bill by striking out the title and substituting the following:

‘An Act To Clarify the Authorization of Emergency Medical Services Personnel To Provide Medical Services in a Hospital’

Amend the bill by striking out everything after the enacting clause and inserting the following:

Sec. 1. 32 MRSA §85, sub-§7  is enacted to read:

7 Delegation.   This chapter may not be construed to prohibit a person licensed as an emergency medical services person from rendering medical services in a hospital setting if those services are:
A Rendered in the person's capacity as an employee of the hospital;
B Authorized by the hospital; and
C Delegated in accordance with section 2594-A or 3270-A.

Amend the bill by relettering or renumbering any nonconsecutive Part letter or section number to read consecutively.

This amendment replaces the bill. The amendment clarifies that licensing requirements for an emergency medical services person may not be construed to prohibit a person licensed under the Maine Emergency Medical Services Act of 1982 from providing medical services as an employee of a hospital if those services are authorized by the hospital and delegated by a physician.
