Resolve, Directing the Department of Public Safety To Conduct a Study To Develop Best Practices for Improving the Security of Municipal Properties

Sec. 1. Study to develop best practices for improving the security of municipal properties. Resolved: That the Department of Public Safety shall conduct a study to develop best practices that municipalities may reference to improve the security of municipal properties, including, but not limited to, buildings, libraries, parks and public open spaces.

Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That, no later than December 31, 2020, the Department of Public Safety shall submit a report of its study to develop best practices under section 1 to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over criminal justice and public safety matters. The joint standing committee may submit a bill based on the department's report to the First Regular Session of the 130th Legislature.

SUMMARY

This resolve directs the Department of Public Safety to conduct a study to develop best practices that municipalities may reference to improve the security of municipal properties. The resolve requires the department to submit a report of its study to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over criminal justice and public safety matters no later than December 31, 2020.
