Amend the resolve in section 2 in the 5th line (page 1, line 24 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "and in social and emotional development" and inserting the following: ', social and emotional development and school safety and security'

Amend the resolve by striking out all of section 4 and inserting the following:

Sec. 4. Report. Resolved: That, no later than December 1, 2020, the Commissioner of Education shall submit a report that includes the working group's findings and recommendations, including suggested legislation, for presentation to the First Regular Session of the 130th Legislature. The joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over education and cultural affairs may report out legislation to the First Regular Session of the 130th Legislature based on the recommendations.

Sec. 5. Appropriations and allocations. Resolved: That the following appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Provides one-time funds to reimburse school administrative units for the cost of substitute teachers for those working group members who are educators as well as other related costs associated with members of the working group attending working group meetings.

Amend the resolve by relettering or renumbering any nonconsecutive Part letter or section number to read consecutively.

This amendment provides that the members of the Department of Education included in the working group must include members with expertise in school safety and security. The amendment also changes the reporting date to require that the report be submitted no later than December 1, 2020 for presentation to the First Regular Session of the 130th Legislature and provides that the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over education and cultural affairs may report out legislation to the First Regular Session of the 130th Legislature. This amendment also adds an appropriations and allocations section.
