An Act To Expand Coyote Hunting to Every Day of the Coyote Hunting Season and To Eliminate Fees

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §11160, sub-§3,  as amended by PL 2005, c. 12, Pt. III, §18, is further amended to read:

3. Issuance.   The commissioner shall issue a permit to hunt coyotes at night to eligible persons at a fee of $4 without imposing a fee.

Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §11205, sub-§1, ¶A,  as enacted by PL 2003, c. 414, Pt. A, §2 and affected by c. 614, §9, is amended to read:

A. Hunt wild animals or wild birds on Sunday , except that a person may hunt coyotes on Sunday during the regular season; or

Sec. 3. Coyote license fees for 2019. Notwithstanding any other law, a license fee may not be charged in connection with coyote hunting for the 2019 regular season.

This bill abolishes the coyote night hunting permit fee, allows hunters to hunt coyotes on Sundays during the regular hunting season, which under current Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife rules is from January 1st to December 31st, and eliminates any license fee that may be charged in connection with coyote hunting for the 2019 regular season.
